After Your Treatment
Helpful guidance following your therapy session
Massage for Menopause
Support through every stage of menopause
You might feel tired, it is very important to rest and relax as much as possible.
Also:
• Take a warm bath, ideally with epsom salts.
• Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins released by the treatment, this will help reduce any contra-actions making the treatment more beneficial.
• Reduce the amount of caffeine you drink so that your body can concentrate on healing.
• Only eat a small meal after the treatment so that your body does not have to divert blood to aid digestion.
• Do not drink alcohol or smoke for 24 hours as they increase the levels of toxins in your body.
Possible Reactions
Restoring movement and flexibility
After a massage, you will normally feel relaxed, however there might be an occasion when you have a reaction from the treatment; these are usually due to the stimulation of the lymphatic system as the body is re-balancing itself.
The side effects will be temporary and last about 24 hours.
It is perfectly normal to feel a little different after the treatment and you might have:
• A headache
• Nausea
• Thirst
• Tiredness
• A breakout of spots
• Aching or soreness of muscles
• Excessive urination

Massage during massage is very beneficial for the mum-to-be. Massage is excellent in promoting relaxation, it soothes nerves and relieves strained backs and tired muscles.
It is safe after the first trimester.
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (MLD) RECHARGE
Supporting the body’s natural recovery processes
MLD stimulates the flow of interstitial fluid to the lymphatic system by using a light pressure to specific areas of the body.
It supports the body’s immune system, enhances circulation and aids the detoxification process, with both therapeutic and aesthetic applications.
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (MLD) PRE & POST SURGERY
Supporting recovery before and after surgery
There is an ever-increasing demand for the provision of MLD as it optimises the healing and care of clients during their post-surgical recovery.
A course of MLD is highly recommended and is encouraged by the surgical consultant and/or health care provider to enhance and support the recovery of the patient.
It is sometimes recommended to have a session prior to the surgery too.

“After having surgery, a full 360 and my thighs lifted I was extremely swollen and the surgeon told me to get booked in for a course of lymphatic drainage massages.
I had a course of 10 sessions with Abigail, they helped so much.
Every time I went I was able to move a lot easier and the swelling went down too.
I would definitely recommend lymphatic drainage as it helped me look and feel better and it’s very relaxing.”
