Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnosis is a technique used with talking therapies to prompt changes in feelings, thoughts and behaviours at a sub-conscious level by you gaining new perspectives on beliefs which have limited your life.

Our minds work on two levels: unconscious and conscious. Hypnotherapy facilitates changes in our sub-conscious, the part of our mind responsible for emotions and memories.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy (2022) suggests hypnosis is very similar to daydreaming in as much as you are not asleep nor fully alert and that it is a nice feeling of relaxation.

Paediatric Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be an effective therapy for children and young people and is used to treat a wide range of issues, especially anxiety and fear-based problems, confidence and self-esteem building.

Generally, children are imaginative and open to the use of hypnosis.

Other issues it is effective in addressing include non-medical bed wetting (enuresis), soiling, sleep problems, food issues and pain management such as for IBS that has no medical cause.

“We brought our ten-year-old daughter to Abigail for hypnotherapy to deal with a terrible fear of dogs. This fear was crippling our daughter, making life outside of the house difficult as she would do anything to avoid a dog, including running on-to a road. She would tense, scream and try to get away. This was also stopping her from joining in with activities with her peers, where dogs were around, or where she feared dogs may be. She wanted to be able to learn to ride a bike but refused as there were dogs in the park, she wanted to be able to walk to school alone in her final year in primary school, but again this was not possible for her.

She had 4 sessions in total with Abigail and the difference in her ability to be around dogs, and her confidence in general has been remarkable. She was able to walk past dogs without trouble due to using tools that help her cope around dogs after only the first session.

Fast forward to now and she has stroked a familiar dog and even stroked an unfamiliar dog who was very large. She has managed to go camping for 10 days which she would always refuse due to dogs. She is looking forward to trying to walk to school herself.

We are very grateful to Abigail for her work with our daughter, she was friendly, empathic and professional. Her therapy room is inviting and comfortable. We would highly recommend Abigail to anybody who is looking for help with fears such as our daughters.”

Wellbeing Coaching

Wellbeing Coaching is a quick and relatively easy way to make changes to your life, solve problems and achieve goals. It will support you to get from A to B (even help identify what B is).

Through conversation, exploratory questioning and reflection you will be empowered, become accountable to yourself, find the motivation to take positive action and make significant changes. You will develop a better understanding of who you are; self-awareness is essential for personal growth. Coaching will help you live in the present rather than focusing on future goals or reliving the past.

Together we will establish structure and routine so that you can use your time more efficiently. Renewed focus along with sharing your goals with me, will increase the probability of you achieving them.

Coaching encompasses all areas of your life: work, relationships, health, money, fun, personal development. Bespoke sessions will be delivered in a confidential, warm and supportive environment to ensure you achieve your goals.

We will start by identifying problems and finding effective ways to tackle them by looking at them from different perspectives.
